Imagine

Awakening of the soul is something that can take years, or it can be sudden.  It is different for everyone.  One thing I have noticed since awakening -  things like music and art can be felt on much deeper levels, even dimensions.   Its as if experiencing a true intimacy with life itself.  Those who have been awake for some time have also become apparent to me.  John Lennon and his beloved Yoko would be a perfect example.   This song...  not just idealistic ramblings of a tree-hugging, war-protesting hippie.  He was awake and this song was an attempt to inspire awakening in others.  He aspired to change the world and make a difference with his profound message of love.

"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one..."   resonates with me in particular.  It is as if he knew his message would be misunderstood and even dismissed, then to say he's not the only one suggests that the message wasn't something he just made up one day, it is enlightenment to something much bigger than ourselves.   A child of revolution, he was and as I feel every word, taking in the vibrations of his unmistakable voice - I receive not only John's message loud and clear but I can sadly feel the distance between the world and his vision.  Even now, people aren't ready.  They don't live for the bigger picture. Jesus could have came back in human form many times over and we are too asleep or preoccupied in the mundane to realize his presence.   I don't know what it is people expect to see in the "Second Coming of Christ" anyway.   I think what they expect is for one day, the clouds to open up to this bright shining golden light around a robed, bearded (white) fellow with beautiful brown wavy locks and Birkenstock sandals to open his arms and start picking out certain people to follow him back to "Heaven" while leaving the rest of us heathens to be destroyed with the rest of the earth. It might be someone's fantasy that he comes to perform miracles like turning to water wine and homosexuals to hetero non-sinners.  Cat lovers to Dog people.   Homeless lumberjacks to trendy hipsters.  People love to quote the bible and use verses out of context that fit their argument to make it more valid because "God said so".   But how many of us actually LIVE the ideals of Christ?  Do we seize every opportunity presented to us to be a good person and respect each other?  Do we consciously work with the gift of every day we are given towards creating  positive energy and a better world for tomorrow?  We love to think about it or say we do meanwhile impatiently honking our horns at the slow driver ahead of us and cursing the bastard who jumped in the parking spot we wanted on our way to church.  We love to use the bible as a tool to judge others.  I see judgement on what others do for a living, what neighborhood we live in, lifestyle choices we make, spending $6 bucks on a pumpkin spice latte but saying "No thanks" to adding another dollar to our grocery bill to feed the hungry children.  I see catty, passive aggressive remarks designed to put someone down,  creating gossip rather than friendship.  I see self-righteous emphasis on what or who we should exclude rather than what we embrace.  People love to talk so much shit behind the bible but do we truly walk "his" walk along the path that he intended?    I have a sinking feeling that most people are far from righteous and are so stuck on their own ego that they are MISSING the real message.   Therefore, the opportunity to experience the divine presence of Christ is also missed.    All we need to do is open our eyes, and we will see that Christ is in everyone around us.  WE are God's power and we all move together to create the reality of the world.  We will know Christ when we assume his position.  When we practice making Love the foundation of every move and choice we make, we are getting closer.   The more Love there is behind every intention, the more positive we will see in the world around us. All the stupid shit we argue about to sound important seizes to matter.   That is what John was trying to say.   Imagine Love being the reason and motivation behind everything....what would the world look like?    Think about it.  Can you Imagine?
